A day in the life of a good citizen.
Early morning: Spent over and hour troubleshooting someone else's project. Someone who has never given me any help with mine... yet?
Mid-morning: Attempted to execute experiment, only to find that samples had gone bad since yesterday. f--k!
Lunchtime: Advised a friend on lab management issue, while we were both eating. That counts as multi-tasking, right?
Early afternoon: Hunted for a reagent for someone in lab next door.
Set up new samples for myself to try again on failed experiment.
Mid-Afternoon: Advised a friend on a job talk for industry.
Late afternoon: Started attempting to do actual work. Interrupted by panicked friends in search of special equipment.
Dinnertime: Any minute now. Not getting anything (of my own) done anyway.
Can't figure out how I could have said no to any of this, and most of it was fun, but what do I have to show for myself at the end of the day? Good karma?
